In this conversation, Tash reflects on the personal beginnings of LOVEBYT, their values and the ingredients that make them different to mainstream oral care.
What inspired you to start LOVEBYT, and how did your background influence the brand you’ve created?
LOVEBYT began in 2018 from a very personal place. I was searching for oral care products that aligned with my values around health, wellbeing, and ingredient integrity - and I couldn’t find anything that truly did. That curiosity quickly became research. I spent years studying hundreds of ingredients commonly used in toothpaste, looking closely at what they do, how they function, and what they may be linked to long-term.
With a refined list of ingredients, I felt confident in, I partnered with a chemist who had over 50 years’ experience in oral care formulation. Together, we developed our first three toothpastes - Cinnamon & Clove, Peppermint, and Charcoal & Mint - each designed to be both effective and sensorial.
My background is in fashion, which deeply influenced how LOVEBYT came to life. Fashion taught me the importance of quality, detail, craftsmanship and storytelling. It also taught me how to build a brand with longevity - one that is Australian-made, considered in its design, and intentional in how it connects with people. LOVEBYT sits at the intersection of function and beauty, where wellness meets ritual.
How do you define LOVEBYT as a brand, and what do you want it to stand for in the natural wellness space?
LOVEBYT is built on ingredient integrity, efficacy, and conscious practices. It’s about turning an everyday habit into a meaningful ritual - one that supports both oral health and overall wellbeing.
In a space that can often feel crowded or trend-driven, we are deeply committed to research, transparency, and trust. Every product is thoughtfully formulated and supported by both naturopaths and dentists.
Our long-term vision is to build a heritage oral care brand within the wellness space - one that people return to year after year because it feels good, works beautifully, and aligns with their values.
LOVEBYT focuses on clean, conscious ingredients. What makes your products different from mainstream oral care?
The biggest difference is what we choose not to include. Our formulas exclude ingredients that have been linked to potential health concerns, which are still commonly found in mainstream oral care.
Instead, we use ingredients with a purpose: xylitol to support remineralisation, and carefully selected plant extracts to help remove plaque, soothe gums, freshen breath, and support a balanced oral microbiome.
Taste is another key distinction. Without harsh chemicals, there’s nothing to mask. That allows the natural flavours to shine - resulting in a toothpaste that feels gentle, refined and genuinely enjoyable to use.
What do you hope people take away from LOVEBYT?
That effective oral care can be formulated without common harsh ingredients. These modern formulations support long-term wellbeing while elevating a daily ritual into something more intentional and enjoyable.
What does “oral beauty” mean to you, and why is it important for everyday wellness?
Oral beauty, to me, is an extension of inner health. When the body is supported from within, it naturally reflects outward - in confidence, vitality, and presence.
The mouth is the gateway to the body. Caring for it properly isn’t just about teeth - it’s about overall balance, health and how we feel in ourselves each day.
What is your favourite product from the LOVEBYT range?
Our mouthwash. It’s our hero product and has sold out three times this year - which still amazes me.
There’s truly nothing else like it on the market. It’s effective yet gentle, keeps breath fresh for hours, and tastes beautiful. Like all our products, it’s housed in glass, reflecting our commitment to transparency, sustainability, and design integrity. It feels as good on your shelf as it does to use.
